Exciting Tourism Opportunity at Templemore College of Further Education

For well over a decade the Tourism and Business Department at Templemore College of Further Education has successfully prepared large numbers of students to work as airline cabin crew, travel consultants, tour guides, holiday representatives and front-of-house jobs within the tourism industry.

Now conscious of the ever increasing demand by the tourism industry for highly qualified staff, the College has developed a new linkage with Waterford Institute of Technology that allows tourism students progress to higher education. Students who successfully complete a one-year, level 5, Certificate in Tourism and Business in Templemore can now  take up one of 25 especially reserved places in higher certificate and honours degree programmes at WIT. Students from Templemore College progressing to higher education can choose from:  a BA (Honours) in Hospitality Management, a BA (honours) in Tourism & Marketing or a choice of 3 Higher Certificates, in Culinary Arts,   Hospitality Studies and Tourism Studies.

Further good news for prospective students is that Templemore College of Further Education continues as an accredited centre for the EU Leonardo Da Vinci Programme, which is aimed at increasing employability and language skills by exchanging best practices between educational institutions. As a consequence Templemore College’s students now have an opportunity for all expenses paid work placements abroad each June, with a choice of going to either France or Spain.

Welcoming the new linkages with Waterford Institute of Technology, College Principal, Dr Noel Colleran said, “Ireland is presently enjoying an unprecedented boom in tourism and this provides a huge opportunity for educated practitioners with up-to-date skills. At Templemore College we provide employment specific education equipping each student with the suite of skills necessary to find employment in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Those with ambitions to enter the tourism industry at management level now have an opportunity to progress seamlessly to honours degree level.”

So, if you are a school leaver or mature student interested in working in a challenging industry offering worldwide employment options, then Templemore College of Further Education provides such an opportunity. One year, fulltime courses in both tourism and business with the option of progressing to degree level begin in Sept 2015.  Full details are available by telephoning 0504-31007, visiting www.tcfe.ie or emailing info@tcfe.ie.
