Home Repossessions set to Escalate in Tipperary
Leading speakers Ross Maguire SC and Paul Carroll, Bankruptcy expert, to speak at public forum in The Strand Hotel, Limerick, next Wednesday.
The latest home repossession cases that have been listed in the courts across the country during the month of January show staggering figures. 125 cases listed in Tipperary alone, as well as the following figures in neighbouring areas – 115 cases in Limerick, 100 cases in Clare and 110 cases in Kerry. New Beginning estimate these figures will grow into the very high thousands this year and the reality is the Irish court system is ill-equipped to deal with this.
“Up to 30,000 could lose homes to repossession, and in the last week alone the number is 1400, which is unheard of for Ireland,” said Chairman of New Beginning, Ross Maguire.
Alongside home repossessions, there are still over 90,000 distressed mortgages in Ireland. Issues like these and more will be discussed openly over the coming weeks at public forums nationwide.
New Beginning will host a practical “Join The Tide of Recovery” seminar in The Strand Hotel, Ennis Road, Limerick on Wednesday 11th February at 7.30pm.
