Lidl Giving Tipperary Customers the Chance to Win their Christmas Shop for Free!

Trolley Dash tickets go on sale on Monday 24th November, with all proceeds going directly to Lidl’s charity partner, Barretstown

We all know that Christmas shopping can be stressful – but what if you only had 3 minutes to do it?! This festive season, Lidl is offering the chance for 8 shoppers in each of Lidl’s stores in County Tipperary to win their entire Christmas shopping – but there is a catch as you will only have 3 minutes to do it. On Monday 24th November, entry tickets to Lidl’s largest ever Christmas Trolley Dash will go on sale for just €1. But that is not all, as 100% of proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Barretstown.

Christmas shopping can be a stressful experience for many; loading the kids into the car, queues for parking, trudging through the rain or snow and fighting your way through the crowds to grab that last Christmas pudding. The Christmas Trolley Dash means that you will have a nearly empty shop and full shelves of Deluxe and Favorina goodies to fill your trolley. Best of all, you get all your shopping for FREE whilst donating to a good cause.

Entry tickets to the Christmas Trolley Dash will be sold at the checkouts for 2 weeks from Monday 24th November to Sunday 7th December. One winner will be chosen at random from each of Lidl’s 8 stores in County Tipperary and customers can enter as many times as they like. The Christmas Trolley Dash will happen in every Lidl store on Saturday 13th December 2014 at 8am.

Dee Ahearn, CEO of Barretstown says: “This is a fantastic prize for Tipperary families so close to Christmas but of course it is a tremendous opportunity for us to raise some much needed funds before the end of the year. With the money raised from Lidl’s Christmas Trolley Dash we can help provide camp programmes for children suffering from serious illness in 2015. Each year Barretstown has to raise €4.5 million. It is initiatives such as these that help us to reach that target, enabling us to provide more camps and reduce our waiting lists.”

Caitriona McCarry, Senior Communications Manager with Lidl Ireland says: ”Winners have a total of 3 minutes to dash through their local store in County Tipperary and stock up on Lidl’s delicious Deluxe and Favorina Christmas range to create a delectable spread for their families. We are in the second year of a three year partnership with Barretstown which has been a huge success with Lidl employees and customers really getting behind the initiative. In our first year, we raised €330,000 and hope that the Christmas Trolley Dash will bring us much closer to our three year target of €1 million. Every single cent from ticket sales will be donated directly to Barretstown so please do enter to support this great cause and for your chance to win your Christmas shopping.”

If you were a lucky winner of the Lidl Christmas Trolley Dash, what would your tactics be?
·        Practice, practice, practice. Have a Christmas list ready, know exactly where it is in the store and blitz it in 3 minutes!
·        Blindly grab and go – it doesn’t matter what ends up in the trolley as all food is good food
·        Head straight for the Christmas aisle for puddings and mince pies

Barretstown, which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, provides therapeutic recreation for seriously ill children and their families in Ireland. To find out more visit www.barretstown.org, like on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Barretstown or follow on Twitter @Barretstown.
