Stepping Stone to my career in the Gardai provided by Templemore College

Templemore college

Joining the Garda Reserve is a great experience for people who want to become involved in the community and for those want to pave a path for themselves in the Gardaí.

Templemore is synonymous with the training of Gardaí and Templemore College of Further Education (formerly St. Sheelan’s) has been assisting those who are seeking career options in the security industry; particularly in the past number of years while the Garda College has been closed to new recruits.

Eoghan Jennings a former student of both Level 5 and Level 6 Security Studies at Templemore College of Further Education and now a member of the Garda Reserve has shared his thoughts on his stepping stone to his future career in the Gardaí.

‘It was the experience of visiting Templemore College of Further Education  Open Day during my transition year at St. Brendan’s Community School Birr that urged me to apply for the Security Studies Course there after my second level education.  Thanks to my success on this course am now a Garda Reserve   and this has given me a real taste of what it is like to serve my community in a positive way I spent two great years at TCFE where I achieved both Fetac Level 5 and Level 6 Certificates in Security Studies/Security Operations.  I am now a Garda Reserve at Tullamore Garda Station and I am living my dream there until I am called to the next stage of the present Garda recruitment competition. It is thanks to the choice of course at Templemore College that I gained the knowledge, skills and work experience to become who I am today – a more confident, focused and happy individual that made all the right decisions so far in my life’

The future looks bright for Eoghan and best wishes are extended to him from staff and students at Templemore College of Further Education.
