Clonoulty Rossmore Vintage Rally 2014

On Sunday the 24th August Clonoulty Rossmore Vintage Club held their Annual Vintage Rally in Clonoulty Village, Cashel, Co. Tipperary by kind permission of Joe and Helen Hamersley.  Despite the inclement weather the rally was very well supported by both exhibitors and the general public.

This was our 14th Annual Rally we have raised over €262,500 for the Hospice Movement since our inception; we have also given €15,000 to other national and local charities. We will be making this year’s presentation to South Tipperary Hospice Movement on Saturday the 20th September, in Trisha’s Bar Clonoulty. This is always a good night of music and fun. There will be an auction on the night to kick start next year’s fundraising.

unnamedThis year’s Rally was really child centred with the club built, Cashel Express proving to be the main attraction. Wanderly Wagon also proved that what was appealing to kids 40 years ago still works today despite its lack of technology; Judge and Mr. Crow were full of banter as normal. It is lucky that Michael Hughes is so fit he must have done 200 laps of the field with the Donkey and cart rides which the kids found fascinating.

unnamed (1)John Leamy’s Allan Threshing Mill was in full swing powered by Michael Looby’s Fordson Major this has proved year after year to be a major attraction with both young and old. John Heffernan baled the wheat into small square bales which are now also a thing of the past.

There was a large number of cars and tractors on display the oldest car being an Austin Seven 1937. The butter making display also proved to unnamed (2)be popular especially when it was spread on the lovely fresh scones made by Mary B Ryan.

Copies of our programme are still available; this has started to be a collector’s item due to the great local history stories that are included each year. We would like to thank all the contributors who come up with such interesting stories each year and also to all who advertise and to our annual patrons.

unnamed (3)Finally thanks to everyone for their support leading up to the rally and on the day due to this generosity we will be in a position to make a presentation once again on the 20th September to South Tipperary Hospice Movement.
