Recruiting additional staff? Free employment supports seminar in Thurles
Business owner/ managers and professional advisors are encouraged to attend Free seminars which will highlight assistance available to Tipperary businesses interested in taking on additional staff. The Tipperary North County Enterprise Board in conjunction with the Department of Social Protection are running a lunch time briefing to provide information on incentives available to firms that need to recruit staff. The information event will take place in the Anner Hotel, Thurles on Thursday 20th February at 12.30pm. Places must be booked in advance as a light lunch will be provided. Of particular interest will be the new JobsPlus scheme which encourages and rewards employers who offer employment opportunities to jobseekers on the Live Register. JobsPlus is designed to encourage employers and businesses to focus their recruitment efforts on the long term unemployed. The scheme provides two levels of payment: a payment of €7,500 payable to the Company over two years for each employee recruited that has been unemployed for more than 12 but less than 24 months and €10,000 payable over two years in respect of persons recruited who have been unemployed for more than 2 years. The cash incentive is payable monthly in arrears over a two year period.
The Tipperary North County Enterprise Board can also offer financial support to qualifying businesses in the manufacturing and internationally traded services sector who may be interested in increasing their employment levels. Businesses can benefit from Priming or Business Expansion Grants which may include employment subsidies. The CEB grants however, are not restricted to the recruitment of unemployed individuals.
The Enterprise Board also offers a suite of training programmes, mentors, management development, website, exhibition, trade fair and other grants to owners/managers seeking to improve the performance of their business or individuals thinking about starting a new enterprise. The Board already works closely with the Department of Social Protection and unemployed individuals contemplating business start up or already in receipt of the Back to Work Allowance may qualify for free places on the Board’s business skills training courses.
Members of the North Tipperary Economic Working Group also invite you to share your views and give input into the County Training and Education Plan at the Thurles focus group breakfast meeting which will take place on Thursday 6 March, at the Anner Hotel, Thurles between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 8.00 a.m followed by a short presentation, facilitated focus groups and feedback. Recommendations from these events will be considered by all the training and education bodies in the county so your attendance will have a real impact.
