An evening packed with musical gems

An informal programme of Baroque, South American, Klezmer music and film classics will be introduced and performed by a trio of violin, accordion and double bass live at The Source Arts Centre this January.

Malachy Robinson is a dedicated chamber musician, as passionate about Early Music as he is about New Music. Principal double-bass with the Irish Chamber Orchestra since 1995, he is also a founder member of the cutting-edge Crash Ensemble as well as appearing with period-instrument orchestras such as The Sixteen, the English Concert, the OAE and the Academy of Ancient Music. He was a founder member of the Irish Baroque Orchestra (with whom he played for ten years) and the Nuevo Tango Quartet (playing the music of Astor Piazzolla).

Katherine Hunka has been captivating audiences big and small throughout Ireland and beyond for many years as Leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra since 2002 where she has directed many concerts from the violin as well as performing as soloist across a wide range of repertoire. Along with the ICO, Katherine has always championed the music of Irish composers and over the years has premièred new works by Bill Whelan, John Kinsella, Míchael Ó Súilleabháin and Elaine Agnew. She has shared the concert platform with ICO guest artists, performing concertos with Pekka Kuusisto, Nigel Kennedy and Anthony Marwood among others.

Dermot Dunne born in Dublin, he studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Kiev. Since winning the RTÉ Musician of the Future in 1996, Dermot has become a regular performer throughout Ireland, appearing at all major venues and festivals including the NCH, Ulster Hall, Kilkenny Festival, Vogler Spring Festival and West Cork Chamber Music Festival. Dermot has also performed as soloist and chamber musician with orchestras including the Ulster Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Irish Chamber Orchestra. Apart from Ireland, Dermot has performed in France, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, Macedonia and Ukraine. His styles range from baroque to contemporary classical and from Bulgarian folk to Argentinean.
