SafeTALK “Suicide Alertness for Everyone” workshop for Thurles
A SafeTALK “Suicide Alertness for Everyone” workshop will be held at the Anner Hotel, Thurles as part of the Tipperary Link 4 Life Project in association with North Tipperary Sports Partnership and the HSE.
At this workshop, learn how to:
- · Provide basic and practical help to persons with thoughts of suicide.
- · Be a suicide alert helper
- · Be aware that opportunities to help someone at risk are often missed, dismissed and avoided.
- · Use the awareness of TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep-safe).
- · Activate a suicide alert.
As part of keep-safe, you connect the person with thoughts of suicide to someone trained in suicide intervention (ASIST). The ASIST carer completes the helping process or connects the person to further supports.
Now more than ever, it is essential that clubs have the tools and skills to protect the well-being of its members.
If you or a member of your club would be interested in participating in this workshop on Thursday 16th January 2014 from 3.30pm to 8pm in the Anner Hotel, Thurles, please contact us at the NTSP office on 067-43604 or e-mail info@ntsp.ie.
Refreshments will be provided. All participants must be over 18 and will receive a certificate on completion of the course. Registration fee €5.
