Killenaule school in Tipperary opts for a lighter ‘digital’ schoolbag
Wriggle 1:1 mobile learning programme rolls out in 41 Irish schools
Incoming first year students at Scoil Ruain in Killenaule, Thurles, last week received their new ‘digital’ schoolbags as they prepare to join the Wriggle 1:1 mobile learning programme. Scoil Ruain is one of 41 schools throughout the country that will use mobile devices and digital textbooks in place of traditional textbooks this coming academic year.
A 1:1 mobile learning programme, Wriggle aims to transform the teaching and learning environment in schools by putting new technology and engaging content into the hands of every student. Wriggle has created a complete package to provide each school with everything they need to make the move to digital textbooks on mobile devices, catering for both students and teachers. Wriggle provides the technology; mobile devices; access to digital textbooks and interactive content; professional development for teachers; comprehensive support and expert advice on ICT planning for schools.
Beryl Furlong, Director of Education at Wriggle commented: “The response to Wriggle been incredibly positive over the past year. 21 schools started with us last September and all will be continuing the 1:1 mobile learning programme with their incoming first years. They have seen firsthand what a difference it has made to the learning environment – both for students and teachers.”
Furlong continued: “We are also delighted to announce that an additional 20 schools are about to begin their journey with Wriggle and introduce 1:1 mobile learning into their classrooms. The 2013/2014 academic year will see Wriggle digital schoolbags in 41 schools throughout the country, with many more already looking forward to implementing the programme in 2014/2015.”
