The Clancy Festival music is a community, volunteer based organization and is always looking for ways for the local community to enjoy the weekend the best way possible. On Monday the 3rd of June The River Festival will take place. This will be an amazing free day out for all the family at The Sean Healy Park. The competition will be in two sections – under 18s between 1pm – 3pm, and senior’s 3.30pm – 5.30pm. Winners will be announced on the day and there will be cash prizes. Entries are being taken at the Heritage Centre and forms can be found on the Clancy Festival web site. On Thursday, May 30th, for the first time the Brewery Lane Theatre will host a Folk Club. For those of you would like to witness the ultimate contest in the field of cycling then the Bobby Power’s Carrick Wheelers Challenge Sportive 2012 which will also take place over the weekend should fit the bill. This year the pubs of the town are set to be filled with the sounds and talents of musicians from near and far. Pubs with music will include The Comergah, O’Ceallachains, The Strand Bar, Figgertys, Pollards and The Old Mill. For the foodies among you, there will be the Farmers Market on the Friday and a Festival of Food on the Saturday.

The number to text can only be found in local newspapers and on Facebook. The prizes include tickets to festival events and the big one which has already been won which was a €200 airline voucher to bring someone home for the festival. It was kindly sponsored by Lynne Keane Travel who is based in Carrick. So don’t forget in the coming weeks, head in and check out your local shops and you could be in with a chance of winning with The Clancy Festival 2013.
