21st birthday for Kelly Clan Gathering in Tipperary
The Kelly Clan are holding a Gathering at Dundrum House Hotel, Dundrum, Co Tipperary on 17-19 May 2013. The inaugural meeting of the Clan took place at this venue in 1992 and bi-annual gatherings have been held ever since, making it a 21st birthday celebration!
The weekend is shaping up to be a mammoth event with visitors arriving from all over the globe. The numbers are already far exceeding expectations but there’s room for more.
Included in the weekend’s programme will be an update on the Kelly DNA Study presented by Australian, Aidan Kelly, the Clan’s Chief Recorder on Genetic Genealogy. On the lighter side will be a costumed re-enactment of a Ned Kelly scene, during a guided tour of the area. There will be a gala dinner on Saturday evening [18th] where friends old and new can meet.
Mary Kelly, one of the organisers and a spokesperson for the Association, says that. “The Kelly Clan Gathering in Dundrum House Hotel will have something for everyone, whatever their interest and is a weekend not to be missed. We have had great support from the Gathering Ireland initiative and South Tipperary County Council. We wish all others planning similar events much success”
