The Waterford Crystal Cup senior hurling final will be a repeat of last year’s decider between Tipperary and Clare. Tipperary defeated LIT by 1-20 to 2-12 at Dolla on Sunday to qualify to meet Clare who defeated Cork in Sixmilebridge on Friday night last by 0-20 to 2-11. The final will be played at Semple Stadium on Saturday night next, February 9, at 7.30pm. Limerick’s Shane Hourigan will be the referee and extra time will be played in the event of a draw. Admission Prices are Adults – €10; Students / OAPs with id – €5 and Under 16s will admitted free. In last year’s final Tipperary won by 1-21 to 2-12 at Sixmilebridge. Tipperary had a disappointing start to their Allianz Division 4 Football League campaign with a 0-16 to 1-14 defeat to Carlow at Semple Stadium on Sunday in front of an attendance of 500 people. Their next game will be against Waterford on Saturday evening next, February 9, in Dungarvan at 7pm. A victory in this game will be important for promotion chances and will be difficult away to a Waterford team that will be buoyed by their 1-9 to 0-11 victory over Clare in Milltown Malbay last Sunday.

Good luck to Thurles Sarsfields for their All Ireland semi-final clash with Kilcormac- Killoughy of Offaly at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on Saturday next, February 9 at 2pm. The game will be shown live on TG4. The game will be refereed by Colm Lyons of Cork. The other semi-final will be played at 4pm in Parnell Park, Dublin between St. Thomas of Galway and defending champions Loughgiel Shamrocks and will also be shown live on TG4. Extra time will be played if required in both games. Thurles Sarsfields are the first Tipperary team to play in an All Ireland semi-final since Loughmore’s defeat to Portumna in 2008 and are aiming to be the first Tipperary team to qualify for the final since Toomevara in 1994.

Tipperary Coaching and Games will again this year offer “Easter Camps” to clubs in the county. Camps will run for three days during the two weeks of the Easter Holidays. The dates include March 26, 27, 28 or April 3, 4, 5.  The camps will run for three hours each day and the cost is €20 per child participating. Each child will receive a sliotar and football on completion of the three days. Children may apply through their participating club only. Numbers will be limited due to availability of coaches so clubs are asked to apply early to avoid disappointment. Last years camps were very successful and all who participated enjoyed the experience.
