THURLES SARSFIELDS IN AIB MUNSTER CLUB SH FINAL

 

Thurles won the battle of the Sarsfields at Semple Stadium on Sunday last as their late surge saw them score 1-2 in injury time to secure a 2-20 to 2-15 victory over Cork Champions, Sarsfields. Thurles Sarsfields will now play Waterford champions, De la Salle, in the final following their 1-10 to 0-10 victory over Newmarket-on-Fergus thanks also to a late goal. The final will be played in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday, November 25 at 2pm. It is of course a repeat of the 2010 final which De la Salle won by a single point. Sarsfields will be seeking their first provincial crown and we wish them all the best for their preparations in the lead-up to the final.

 

 

AIB MUNSTER CLUB SENIOR FOOTBALL SEMI-FINAL

 

Good luck to Clonmel Commercials against Dr. Crokes of Kerry in the AIB Munster Club senior football semi-final at the Dr Crokes GAA Grounds Killarney on Sunday next, November 18 at 2pm. Michael Collins of Cork will referee the game and extra time will be played if necessary. The other semi-final will be between Castlehaven (Cork) and Stradbally (Waterford) at Clonakilty also at 2pm on Sunday with Derek O’Mahoney from Ardfinnan as referee.

 

 

SILVERMINES IN MUNSTER INTERMEDIATE HURLING FINAL

 

The Munster Intermediate Club Hurling final between Silvermines and Ballyduff of Kerry has been changed from its original date on Sunday next, November 18 to Saturday November 24. It will be played at Semple Stadium with a 2pm throw-in.

 

 

KILSHEELAN DEFEATED IN AIB MUNSTER JH CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Commiserations to Kilsheelan Kilcash following their defeat by St Kieran’s of Limerick on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-2 in the Munster junior hurling club championship quarter-final played at the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on Saturday last.

 

 

COUNTY JUNIOR A FOOTBALL FINAL

 

Congratulations to Borrisokane on winning the County Junior A Football final by defeating Drom and Inch by 0-6 to 0-5 at Templemore last Saturday. It was a proud day for Borrisokane man and Football Board Chairman, Noel Morris, who presented the cup to Borrisokane captain, Philip Austin. Borrisokane will play Cappamore of Limerick in the AIB Munster junior club championship quarter final at a Tipperary venue (to be fixed) on Sunday next, November 18 at 2pm.

 

 

COUNTY MINOR A FOOTBALL FINAL

 

Congratulations to Clonmel Commercials who won their third minor A county football title in a row on Saturday last at Leahy Park, Cashel when they defeated JK Brackens by 2-11 to 1-5. Michael Bourke presented the new Michael Hogan Perpetual Cup to Commercials Captain, Colman Kennedy.

 

 

COUNTY FINALS

 

There are 3 county finals to be played in the next 10 days. Moycarkey-Borris, who have already won the Intermediate football title, are involved in two of them. On Saturday, November 17 Fr. Sheehys will play Grangemockler Ballyneale in the under 21 C hurling championship final at Clonmel Sportsfiled at 1pm. Both clubs are looking to win their first title at this grade.

 

The county junior A hurling final will be played on Sunday, November 18 at Boherlahan at 2pm. Kilsheelan are seeking their first junior A hurling title and Moycarkey Borris are looking to bridge a gap back to 1954 when the won their only previous title at this grade.

 

The county junior B football final will be played on Friday, November 23 at New Inn  at 7.30pm between Moycarkey-Borris and Fethard. Moycarkey-Borris are seeking their first title at this grade and Fethard are seeking their second having previously won in 1998..

 

 

PLAYERS FORUM

 

The County Board will hold a Players Forum in the Dome at Semple Stadium on Thursday, November 22 at 8pm. Each club will be invited to send 2 players aged over 18 to the forum which will be held in a practical workshop format to give each player a chance to participate fully in the discussions. Representatives of the under 21 and senior inter-county panels will also be invited. There will also be 2 short presentations from guest speakers. The output from the forum will be important to the County Board in making plans for the year ahead and is an opportunity for the County Board to hear the views of players first hand. All clubs are asked to ensure that they are represented by 2 players. There will be a wide range of topics discussed and the forum is an ideal and innovative opportunity for players to speak on subjects of importance to them and put forward ideas for implementation.

 

 

SEAN GHAEL AWARDS

 

The annual Sean Ghael awards ceremony will take place at the Dome, Semple Stadium on Sunday next, November 18 at 4pm. These awards are presented to those over 70 who have served the Association in the county with distinction. A limited number of tickets for the event are available for sale at Lar na Pairce.

 

 

TIPPERARY HURLING CLUB IN NEW YORK ANNUAL DINNER DANCE

 

The Tipperary Hurling Club in New York will hold its Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday, December 8 at the Lake Isle Country Club, Eastchester. The guest of honour will be Jimmy Lyons of Grangemockler who won 10 New York senior hurling championship medals with the Tipperary club and played on the New York senior hurling team for 12 years. He won 5 New York senior football medals with the Connemara Gaels. He also represented Tipperary at minor, under 21 and senior football and intermediate hurling. His nephew, Bill Maher captained the Tipperary minor hurlers this year. Other special guests include Bill Maher and former Tipperary senior hurler, Jim Kehoe from Kilsheelan Kilcash who now resides in San Francisco. TIPPERARY CLUBS DRAW

 

The Tipperary GAA Draw for November was held last Friday night in Stapleton’s Bar & Lounge, Borrisoleigh. Donal O’Driscoll was presented with his €15,000 prize which he won in the October GAA Draw. In the November draw the winners of a Skoda Car or €15,000 were Michael & Mary Treacy (sold by Moycarkey-Borris GAA Club) and the winner of a Skoda Car or €10,000 was Rev. P. O Gorman PP, (sold by Golden Kilfeacle GAA Club). The presentation of prizes will take place on Friday, December 15 with the December GAA Draw. The venue is to be confirmed

 

 

SCÓR 2O12 –TALENT WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED

 

The Scor season is with us again and we urge all clubs in the county to enter into the spirit and encourage their young members to take part in the various competitions. These include Solo Song, Recitation, Tráth na gCeist, Ballad Group, Novelty Act, Instrumental Music, Figure Dancing and Set Dancing. Scór na nÓg is for those students in secondary school under the age of 17 and we have no doubt there are many “X Factor” celebrities waiting to be discovered in our many clubs. This year’s county finals will have talent scouts from a television company anxious to highlight the wealth of talent in Tipperary and the chosen participants will go on to participate in an inaugural television production. TIPPERARY ASSOCIATION DUBLIN ANNUAL MASS

 

The Tipperary Association Dublin will hold its annual mass in the Upper Room,  Palace Bar, Fleet Street Dublin on Tuesday November 27 2012 at 7.45 pm. All are welcome.
