Writer’s Weekend in North Tipperary Fairy Fort
Writer Derbhile Dromey is organising a weekend workshop for other writers – in a fairy fort in North Tipperary. It’s actually taking place at the Fairy Fort Farm in Borrisoleigh, half an hour from the Rock of Cashel, an area steeped in history and fairy lore.
The weekend will run from September 14-16th (Fri-Sun) and will cater for any writer who has a strong idea that they want to develop. It will also suit writers who want space to write, but like the idea of meeting kindred spirits.
“Retreats are great, but they can be a bit isolating. And the full-on socialising of festivals can leave little time for reflection. This offers a happy medium, a chance to really work on your writing, while letting off a little steam with your fellow writers.”
The weekend is open to beginners and to people who have started working on their idea, but may be a little stuck. There’ll be workshops on the Saturday and Sunday, where people will have a chance to share their ideas and get feedback on them, from Derbhile and other writers. When not writing, people will have the chance to walk in the surrounding countryside, work on their ideas and chat to the other participants.
Derbhile Dromey has written professionally for 12 years. Her first novel, The Pink Cage, was published in 2011 by Book Republic and her short stories and articles have appeared in Crannog Magazine, From the Well Anthology, Lyric FM Quiet Quarter Anthology, Irish Independent and Irish Examiner. She is an experienced workshop facilitator for children and adults.
