My Week With Marilyn’ at Nenagh Arts Centre
Simon Curtis’s well regarded ‘My Week With Marilyn’ screens at Nenagh Arts Centre in Banba Square on this Thursday 3rd of May.
The film follows a young film production assistant Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) who is obliged to look after Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) when she visits England to shoot ‘The Prince and The Showgirl’.
Based on a true story – it’s a film about a film – where ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’ famously united Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn who was also on honeymoon with her new husband, the playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott). When Miller leaves England, the coast is clear for Colin to introduce Marilyn to some of the pleasures of British life.
Williams received many plaudits for her performance and depicts Monroe at her most gorgeous and most frustrating, as her wayward nature threatens to derail Olivier’s plans.
Nenagh Film Club presentations are presented on the big screen with cinema sound. ‘My Week With Marilyn’ screens on Thursday, 3rd May at 8p.m. Admission is €7.
