Bellefield Spring Plant Fair

Saturday 3rd March – put the date in your diary now – from11 amto4.30 p.m.This is the first Fair of the year at Bellefield House & Gardens.  There are lots of exciting things happening this year.

The award winning gardens at Bellefield House which feature in this month’s Gardens Illustrated, have been restored and replanted by Garden Architect, Angela Jupe, are worth a visit at any time of the year.  However, they truly come into their own in Springtime, and with the added attraction of Rare Plant suppliers being there on the day – the 3rd March is a day not to be missed.

Spring has come early but the gardens are absolutely loving it all. The swathes of snowdrops, intermingled with the yellows and blues of Spring bulbs have brought a glorious burst of sunshine and happiness to the garden.

The annual Spring Plant Fair will be held in the grounds of the old Georgian farmhouse that is Bellefield House (Shinrone – between Birr and Roscrea, Co. Offaly just off the N62)

There will be interesting and rare plants for sale with over 20 specialist nurseries attending with new, unusual and rare varieties of snowdrops, hellebores, clematis, hepatica, trillium, cardimine, primula and other woodlanders.

Take a stroll around the walled garden and woodland and see lots of these plants in situ.

There will be an art exhibition.

There will be informative talks on snowdrops, hellebores and other spring plants.

Afternoon tea will be available in the Stable tearoom, with lots of home-made delights to tempt you.

All the elements coming together to make a wonderful gardening respite.
