Dundrum AC notes 5th Dec

On Sunday December 4, 2011 the county novice B cross country was hosted in Moyne. Graham Butler had an excellent run to finish in 3rd position. Tommy Byrnes, Colm Bradshaw and John Macormick completed the team finishing in 6th, 7th and 14th positions. The boys combined to win the silver medals in the team category only missing out on gold by two points. Liam Butler was in 18th position. The national novice and and juvenile will take place next Sunday in the Curragh.
Juvenile ‘B’cross country
The Co. juvenile ‘B’ cross country was held last Sunday in Moyne. We had 13 athletes in action. In the girls U/10 our team won the gold medals.Caoible McCarthy led the girls home and was closely followed by Caoibhe McCormack and Ciara Ryan with Claire Kelly and Sarah Jane furlong not far behind. In the Girls U/11 Rosanna O’Donnell and Sarah Kelly both performed well but finished out of the medals. In the boys U/12 Jerry Hayes led for most of the race but had to settle for 4th after a fine performance and he led the team uo bronze medals. Kirean Browne and Dara McCarthy ran well to complete the team. In the boys U/13 John Purdue had a good run to be 7th and lead in the team with Thomas Furlong and Tommy Moore but they finished out of the medals. Next Sunday the all Ireland uneven age championships will be held on the Curragh racecourse. We have four juvenile athletes who qualified to compete and we wish them luck.
