Cashel Arts Festival

Looking forward to……….
A wide and varied choice of evening and day time entertainment to be experienced next week during the 9th annual Cashel Arts Festival.
‘Birds and Animals’, this years themed arts exhibition, will be opened by artist Eamon Colman, in the Cashel Library on the 11th November at 8pm, come along  and experience this exhibition with a twist!
The Literary Pub Trail on the 12th November. Dust off your history books and make your way down to the Plaza at 9pm, and the history of Cashel will come alive in Feehans, Mikey Ryan’s and The Cellar Bar in the Palace, through song, drama, poetry and readings.
Enjoy a tasty 3 course meal in Café Terrasse while being entertained, table side, by the up and coming comedian, Jack Wise. Mark the 18th November on your calendar for this highly entertaining evening .Kick off 7.30pm Tickets available from the Heritage Centre Cashel, 062 62511, Café Terrasse, or on line €25. If it’s live music you’re after then pop down to the Bru Boru on the 19th of November at 8.30pm for an evening of Choral music from not one, but four choirs ,headlining are ‘4 in a bar ‘,Irelands leading Barbershop Quartet, the Cashel Community School  Choir ,the  Ursuline  Thurles Chamber Choir, and all the way from Cork ,The Willcolane Singers. The Dublin Guitar Quartet will be performing in the Cashel Library with their palatable mix of music from the worlds leading composers on the 15th November ,obtain your tickets from the library  on 062 63825.
Some free events at this year’s Fest also include;
An Architecture Talk in Ardmayle on the 16th November. If town planning and development especial in the recent years has sparked your interest, and alternative strategies and design of living, working and playing space appeals to you than Orla Murphy’s talk is right up your street! At 8pm in Ardmayle Church.
For all film buffs, Feehans Pub, Cashel on the 20th November at 8pm will be the setting for our Festival Film Night: ‘This is Irish Film’. Short Irish made and produced films will be screened. You will be amazed at how talented we Irish are.
Did you know that its 100 years of the Girl Guides in Ireland and to mark this occasion an informal evening in O’ Brien’s lodge on the 16th Nov is taking place .An evening to share ones experience’s of the guides. No booking necessary come along at 8pm.
For family fun:
Cashel Shopping Centre is the place to be on the 19th Nov at 1pm to watch a free  performance from David Day and his African Drums, this is followed by  Drumming  workshops for family’s, Beginners and Teenagers at the same venue starting at 2.15.Booking for these at the Heritage centre on 062 62511.
For all budding X factor wannabes, the solo and choir competitions taking place on the 19th November in Bru Boru could be the start for you, application forms on our web site need to be in before the 11 November, and spectators are free to enjoy the talent on the day.

The Fly Tying workshop in the Library on the 19th Nov, run in association with the Cashel ,Golden and Tipperary anglers. All children to be accompanied by an adult. Book through the library 062 63825.
Places are still available for The Mould and Casting workshop in the picturesque surroundings of the Historic Killenure Castle in Knockavilla on the 19th and 20th of November, €30 for 2 full days of exploring and appreciating 3D shapes while producing a 2 piece plaster mould and casting your desired object, book your place at the Heritage Centre on 062 62511.
John Cash is running a 1 day photography workshop for €45 including lunch in Bailey’s Hotel, Cashel on the 12th, book through the Cashel Library 062 63825.
Sean Nos workshop for 10yrs + will take place in the VEC building on 13th Nov, book your place through the Library on 062 63825.
The tapestry workshop on the19th on the Library has just a few places left so to join Merrie O Higgins in creating a small tapestry, book with the library on 062 63825.
On Sunday the 20th Ian fox will give a talk with music recordings of the great composer Franz Liszt in the Cashel Palace, book through the Heritage centre or come along on the day.
