COUNTY SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Clonoulty Rossmore will play Drom and Inch in the 115th County Senior Hurling championship final on Sunday October 16 at Semple Stadium following their respective victories over defending champions, Thurles Sarsfields and Mullinahone last Sunday. It will be the first final meeting between the 2 sides. Clonoulty Rossmore have won 3 county senior hurling titles in 1888, 1989 and 1997 and Drom and Inch are seeking their first title having played in 3 finals previously. The Clonoulty Rossmore management team is TJ Ryan (Manager), Liam Cahill (Coach) and Andrew Fryday (Selector). The Drom and Inch management team is Teddy Kennedy (Manager), Andy Bourke, Martin Butler (Selectors) and Sean Prendergast (Coach). The two captains are John Devane (Clonoulty Rossmore) and Seamus Callanan (Drom and Inch).  Both finalists were defeated by Thurles Sarsfields in the last 2 county finals with Clonoulty Rossmore losing in 2010 and Drom and Inch in 2009 so barring a draw one of them will have more than made up for those defeats by 5pm on October 16.  The opening game on county final day will be the Seamus Ó Riain Cup final between Moycarkey-Borris and Knockavilla Kickhams. The team of the past to be honoured will be the Kilruane MacDonaghs team which won the 1985 county senior hurling championship and of course the 1986 All Ireland club title.

GAA CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS 2012

The GAA championship draws for 2012 will we shown live from Croke Park on RTE 2 television on Thursday, October 6 at 8pm. The 6 provincial draws will be featured – the Munster football and hurling draw, the Leinster football and hurling draws, the Ulster football draw and the Connaught football draw.  A big question – will Tipperary and Cork avoid each other in the Munster SH championship after been drawn against each other in each of the last 4 years?

London Tipps’ Annual Dinner-Dance

Tipperary’s hurlers may have relinquished the Liam MacCarthy Cup after just one year but the county’s minor footballers have certainly given the Premier County plenty to celebrate as an historic year for them draws to a close. Their thrilling victory over a fancied Dublin team in this year’s All-Ireland final was undoubtedly one of the major sports stories of the year and a real boost in the promotion of football in Tipperary. The London Tipperary Association is therefore delighted to confirm that Tipperary minor football captain, Liam McGrath, and the senior hurling captain of the Munster champions, Eoin Kelly, will be just two of the special guests on the evening accompanied by their trophies at this year’s annual dinner-dance. They will be joined by Tipperary’s senior football manager, John Evans, and the minor team’s young manager, David Power, as well as All-Star hurler and Thurles Sarsfields’ clubman Padraic Maher, his county team mate and Lorrha native, Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher, current full-back Paul Curran from Mullinahone and  60’s/70s Tipperary hurling legend Mick Roche for a night of celebration after another year to savour for the Premier County. Hopefully Tipperary’s international soccer star Shane Long will also be available once again to join the celebrations. Over two hundred and fifty diners will be making their way to the Crown Moran Hotel, Cricklewood Broadway for the Bank Holiday weekend function. Entertainment will once again be provided by the magnificent Barry Owen Band. Tickets enquiries can be made to the London Tipperary Association’s Life President – Tom Milne (00 44) (0) 20 7387 7739, Mob: (00 44 (0) 7956 938187; Chairman – John Whyte (00 44) (0) 20 8641 9977, Mob: (00 44 (0) 7889 060191 and President  – Gus Casey (00 44) (0) 20 8422 0596.
