Hear the legend that is Andy Irvine

Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and raconteur, Andy Irvine has been “one of the towering talents on the international folk scene” (Sydney Morning Herald) for more than forty years. Whether as a solo artist or as the linchpin of celebrated groups such as Sweeney’s Men, Patrick Street, Planxty and, most recently, Mozaik, his breathtaking musicianship has produced one acclaimed album after another and cemented his reputation as an unrivalled balladeer.  Since his early solo tours, Irvine has explored new combinations and forms of music, embracing the styles (and instruments) of many of the countries he visits, and blending them into a unique sound of his own.

This solo show in the intimate surroundings of the Source Arts Centre offers an opportunity to admire the full breadth of his talents. With his dazzling mix of stories and song, from traditional Irish to dexterous Balkan dance tunes, Andy Irvine never fails to deliver a pulsating, heartfelt performance.

Prepare to be charmed by Andy’s velvety tones as he sings favourites such as Nancy Spain, The Cliffs Of Dooneen and Lord McDonald. His enchanting stage presence and fascinating stories bring his songs to life in a unique way. Andy Irvine never fails to deliver a pulsating, heartfelt performance!

Hear Andy Irivine at The Source Arts Centre, Thurles on Thursday 27th October at 8pm. Tickets from www.thesourceartscentre.ie or 0504 90204
