Dundrum AC 3rd October 2011
The county novice cross country took place on October, 2nd, 2011 with the ladies race over 3K off first. Karen Ryan had a very good run finishing in 5th position with Liz Breen and Mary Keane completing the team finishing in 10th and 13th position. The Three girls combined to win the silver medals in the team category. The men’s race was over 6K with Kevin Moore leading the boys home finishing in 4th position. Padraig Coen, Ruaidhri Devitt and Tommy Brynne’s completed the team in 8th, 11th and 15th position. The four lads combined to win the silver medals in the team category. Colm Bradshaw, Graham Butler and Liam Butler finished in 25th, 32nd and 36th positions. John McCormick and Brendan Kinnane finished in 37th and 44th positions.
Juvinile Results
The club had 18 juvenile athletes who competed in the Co. even age cross country championships held at The Turnpike last Sunday. We had some very good performances. In the girls u/10, Ciara Ryan had a fine run and was closely followed home by Niamh Treacy. In the boys u/10 we had six athletes and a great performance from Ben Loughman who finished second.Stephen Browne not far behind in 6th then we had Aaron Renehan 11th and David Carroll 15th to win the silver team medals they were closely followed home by Jack Ryan and Kieran Doyle. In the girls u/12 Rosanna O’Donnell had a good run . In the boys u/12 we had a team of five. Joshua O’Dwyer had a great run to be 3rd and was closely followed home by Jerry Hayes,Cathal Carr,Hugo Burke and kieran Browne and were 4th team.In the girls u/14 Emer Loughman ran a super race to win the gold medal and Jean Kelly was a fine 6th and Megan Ryan ran on strongly but unfortunately we failed to get out a 4th athlete for the team. In the boys u/16 Ronan Heffernan had a fine run to be 10th in his first run for some time. The next Juvenile outing is the uneven ages in Clonmel on Oct 16th
