The Moycarkey/Moyne/Slieveardagh Cross Country Challenge took place in the Middlepiece, Two Mile Borris on Thursday 22nd September. Races were for U/8, U/10, U/12, U/14 & U/16 & all athletes got a chance to run the Cross Country distances for the forthcoming County Juvenile Even Age Championships on Sunday 2nd October. Congratulations & well done to all the athletes who took part. We were delighted to welcome Slieveardagh A.C. back for their 2nd time & Moyne A.C. back for their 5th year & we hope everyone had an enjoyable night of running. The Challenge was first run in 2007 with the winning Club being presented with the Tom Hayes Memorial Shield. Moyne A.C. won the shield in 2007, then Moycarkey won it in 2008, 2009 & 2010. This year Moyne won the Shield with our Club in 2nd place & Slieveardagh A.C finishing in 3rd place. Thanks to Moyne A.C., Slieveardagh A.C.& our own Club for providing great competition & to all the supporters who came to cheer the children on. Our thanks also to all our ladies who provided such a wonderful spread of confectionary in the Community Hall in Two Mile Borris afterwards. Much appreciated. We look forward to another Challenge with Moyne & Slieveardagh next year for the Track & Field Season.
