Clonoulty Rossmore Vintage Club Presentation Night

Ger Crosses Steam Engine

Clonoulty Rossmore Vintage Club will hold their presentation to South Tipperary Hospice Movement on Saturday the 24th September in The Local, Clonoulty of the monies raised at their recent Vintage Rally and throughout the year. The annual auction and prize draw will be held on Saturday night commencing our fund raising for next year. A good night is guaranteed with the help of our enthusiastic and efficient auctioneer Joe Hammersley.  We have a signed Tipperary Senior Team hurling jersey for auction along with many other interesting items. 2011 Rally Programmes and DVDs will be on sale on the night.
We would like to thank everyone who has helped us to raise funds for the Hospice Movement by attending our rally, buying tickets for our draw etc. We know how hard it is in the present economic climate for people to donate from their limited funds.
The highlight of our rally this year was Joe Barry’s playing of the only remaining original Ballagh Warpipers pipes, which are of such an intrinsic part of our parish’s local history, Fr. Paddy Ryan (M) wrote a very informative article on this famous local band in this year’s programme. The rally was very well supported with a large number of exhibitors present. Channon’s from Clonmel gave a live display of horseshoeing showing how some of the old skills are still surviving and viable. Ger Crosses impressive Steam Engine was a highlight for many of the young children who thought it was one of Thomas the Tanks friends. We would like to thank Joe and Helen Hammersley for the use of their field to host the Rally for the last 11 years.
Planning is underway for next year’s fundraising activities, anyone with ideas or suggestions please feel free to contact any committee member.
