Thurles Thurles Parents & Friends of People with Special Needs Summer Camp ’11

Thurles parents and friends of people with special needs summer camp concluded on Friday last with a fantastic party at the Guardian Angel Resource Centre at the Pallotine College. Each participant was presented with a certificate and photos of the eventful week by camp co-ordinator Evelyn Nevin. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the camp such a happy and carefree event.
An average of 25 children accompanied by their individual helpers departred from the Pallotine College for different destinations every day. Wednesday was perhaps the highlight of the week as we travelled to the capital, following an invite from Butler’s, to drop into to any child’s paradise; i.e. a Chocalate Factory. Over two magical hours were spent on the north side of Dublin where we were shown how chocalate was made and more importantly how it actually tasted. Thanks to Butler’s choclates and all our hosts during the past week for helping to put loads of smiles (and chocalate!) on all our faces.
Well done to all the leaving cert students and best wishes for the future.
Respite Saturday for the month of September will be our next get together.
