The August meeting of North Tipperary Macra na Feirme was held in the Village Inn, Aglish on Friday last. It was addressed by representatives of Streetwise Buildings an organisation that assists in the construction of facilities in the worlds poorest communities. Niamh Hanrahan and Meagan Corrigan gave a presentation to the assembly including personal accounts of volunteer work in South Africa. Karen Hardiman of Devilsbit Macra gave a brief presentation about Gaisce – The Presidents Award. She spoke about the four aspects of the award, personal skill, physical skill, an outdoor adventure and community involvement. The aim of the award is to challenge young people to learn new skills through non-formal educational means.
In local club news, its that time of the year again for AGMs, several of them are to be held in the forth coming days. The Annual General Meeting Of Devilsbit Macra takes place this Wednesday night 24 August at 9 o’clock, in Eddie Joes, Templemore, All welcome.
The inaugural meeting of the new Nenagh Macra committee will take place this Thursday 25th at 9 o’clock in Una Powells, Nenagh. The new committee would like to take this opportunity to invite prospective members to come along and find out what activities they are planning for the year.
