Mayor Morris congratulates the organisers of the Cumann Na mBunscol County finals In Thurles
I would like to congratulate the organisers players and parents who made the Cumann Na mBunscoil county finals played in Semple stadium last Tuesday and Wednesday such a roaring success. It was a festival of Camogie and Hurling that was a joy to watch. The children were very well prepared and gave their all for their respective schools from the very Northern Tip of Tipperary to the Southern tip of the county with all sizes of schools represented. I would like to thank the school personnel who gave up their spare time to prepare their teams over the previous year. The preparation of children for physical activities such as sport provides a very important part of the school curriculum and one that is not often recognised by the media in their assessment of schools up and down the county. I would also like to congratulate St Marys Convent Nenagh on winning both the u11 and u13 Camogie finals. Indeed I want to congratulate all the winners and losers who played with great spirit and also the hard working officials on the day.
These initial years of learning Hurling and Camogie in the schools will serve their respective clubs well in years to come and I have to take my hat off to the coaches who dedicate their spare time to preparing the future stars of Tipperary Camogie and Hurling in the proper techniques at the very start of their careers . The Cumann Na mBunscol committee can also take a bow for running the 26 county finals over two days so efficiently. Yours sincerely Cllr. Séamie Morris 17/06/11
