133 Jobs Lost in Cashel as Johnson & Johnson Closes

Bad news for County Tipperary today as US multinational Johnson & Johnson has announced it plans to close its Cashel facility with the loss of 133 jobs.

Staff are being informed of this decision this afternoon and formal consultations will begin immediately.

The company said the planned closure is a result of the company’s decision to cease development and manufacturing of certain coronary stents.

Johnson & Johnson has said that it will explore alternatives for the Cashel site and would also try to redeploy those losing their jobs in the town within the family of its companies.

The company said it remained committed to Ireland, where it has ten business units, including four large manufacturing sites.
