Traffic Restrictions re Visits of Queen Elizabeth & Barack Obama
The royal visit will take in the Rock of Cashel, Co Tipperary where strict security measures will be in place.
Cashel:
From midday on Mon 16th May there will be restrictions both ways on the M8 Dublin/Cork Rd for a distance of 10 km from north of J7 Cashel North to south of J9 Cashel South. The speed limit will be reduced to 100kmph and traffic will be reduced to one lane. Vehicle Message Signs (VMS) will be in place to inform motorists.
From 6pm Thursday 19th May the only access to Cashel will be from J9. All junctions will reopen early afternoon on Friday 20th May.
Also, from 6pm Thursday 19th until midday Friday 20th May, there will be a cordon around Cashel, with an average distance of 7 km around the town. Access through the cordon will only be allowed to persons who hold a valid pass. Diversionary signs will be in place, manned by Gardai.
Fethard & Killenaule:
From 6pm Thursday 19th to 2pm Friday 20th May there will be outer cordon restrictions around Fethard which will allow for normal business to continue in the town.
A similar cordon will exist in Killenaule allowing normal business to continue in the town. Diversions will be signposted and manned by Gardai. Local traffic will be allowed to pass through with restrictions.
