Mid-Tipp Hillwalkers Club Notes

It’s looking like a very active summer and autumnfor Mid-Tipp Hillwalkers. On the June Bank holiday weekend Dan Condren, is taking a group 20 to Wales for high-level walking and rockclimbing in Snowdonia. In mid-July lower level walking is catered for, as Carmel Needham heads off with a large group to England’s famous Cotswold Hills to complete the renowned Cotswold Way.
Jim Finn is the next to travel and is presently putting together an expedition to the world famous Dolomite Mountains of North-Eastern Italy for the end of August .Finally from, Fri Oct 14 to Sun Oct 16, high and low-level walkers all come together for our Autumn Charity Challenge, which this year takes place among the unmatched scenery of Cooley and Mourne Mountains and offers walking suitable for suitable for all fitness levels.This event is open to all including newcomers to walking and further information can be had from Michael Sutton, 17 Willowmere Drive, Thurles Co Tipp; Tel: 0504-21482 or 086–4009989; email michaelsutton1949@gmail.com .
Meanwhile rock-climbing continues every week leaving from outside the Horse and Jockey Hotel on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm with newcomers most welcome. Further info from 087 2240368. Also a reminder that our highly popular series of Friday evening walks, which have been such a great success for the past five years have recommenced, and depart from Slievenamon Road carpark every friday evening at Thurles at 6.20pm. Newcomers are most welcome and further information can be had from Carmel at 086-2602133.
