Nenagh Hospital, Co Tipperary closed to visitors due to discovery of c difficile and norovirus

Nenagh General Hospital is closed for visitors due to the discovery of three cases of Clostridium difficile commonly called c difficile and one case of norovirus.

C difficile is a bacterium that can cause symptoms ranging from diarrhea to inflammation of the colon. The norovirus group of viruses are the most common cause of gastroenteritis (upset stomach) often called the winter vomiting disease.

The public is being asked not to visit except in emergency situations.
