Kerry Charity Challenge

Photograph shows Catherine Dwan, Holycross at the head of almost 30 climbers who ascended Carrauntoohil for their  first time on the recent  Kerry Charity Challenge in aid of  visually impaired people. The climb was led by Winnie Flynn, John G O’Dwyer and Tom Lysaght. There was also excellent walking in great weather conditions on Hungry hill with  Josephine Tobin, around Cummeengeera with Jim Finn, along the Kerry Way with  Ray Creaney and beside the shores of Kenmare Bay with Jimmy Duggan. In total 112 walkers participated on the five walks and thereby raised badly needed funds for the National Council for the Blind and the Irish Guide Dogs Association.

Meanwhile a reminder that Mid-Tipp Hillwalkers rockclimbing season  has now  commenced and continues every   Tuesday evening throughout the summer (weather permitting) leaving from outside the Horse and Jockey Hotel at 6.15pm  with all comers welcome to participate. Equipment and basic training in climbing skills will be provided free of charge to those new to the sport.  For further information, text the word rockclimbing to 087 2240368.
