Heat 3 at Buddys Got Talent
Four more excellent and entertaining acts took to the stage on Friday last for the 3rd heat of Buddys Got Talent. First on was a band, I Am The Hero. The 5 individuals hailed from Offaly and Westmeath and gave a great performance with a lovely female vocalist. The judges in particular praised the standard of playing and the lead vocal, but suggested the musicians should show a bit more energy and also tighten the harmonies. Next up was Paddy Fogarty from Thurles, who gave a heartfelt performance of his 2 songs, Seven Spanish Angels and Any Dream Will Do. The judges praised his performance but suggested that Paddy be sure to keep a good ear to the accompaniment.
Then we had Greg Starr from Borrisokane. Greg gave a very fine performance of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, and Nessun Dorma, made famous by Pavarotti. Judges thought the performance excellent and were full of praise for Greg. Finally we had the Beard Of Zeus, this 3 piece was a 2 piece on this occasion as one member was absent due to illness. However they gave us their own version on guitar and banjo of Mundy’s “July” before finishing with a rousing rendition of the Waterboys “Fishermen’s Blues”. Judges Veronica Crowley and Andrew Walsh from Roscrea loved this performance, and praised in particular the lovely harmonies.
All in all another wonderful nights’ entertainment, and after votes were counted, the audience winner was The Beard Of Zeus, with the judges also putting Greg Starr through. Both these acts qualify for the semi-finals, and Paddy Fogarty and I Am The Hero qualified for the wild card night.
