Independent Councillor Billy Clancy to contest General Election in North Tipperary South Offaly
Billy Clancy Independent County Councillor in the Thurles Electoral area is to contest the 2011 General Election in the North Tipperary South Offaly constituency with the New Vision Alliance
From the New Vision Website “New Vision is an association of independent candidates, working together to change the way we ‘do’ politics in Ireland.
All NewVision candidates are committed to vote ‘en bloc’ as a political alliance for the following four national policies, if elected.
1 The separation of Bank debt and Sovereign debt
2 The overhaul of the Political, Public & Civil Service
3 A creditable workable strategy to create and retain jobs
4 Restructure the state energy and mineral resources.”
A public meeting to plan the election campaign is being held in Upperchurch Hall on Sunday 6th Feb at 6.30pm
Billy attended UCD from 1970-1973 where he studied Economics, Geography and Irish and was a former classmate of Richard Bruton.
He is married with four children.
Billy was elected to the County Council at the last local elections. He was a member of the Tipperary Against Lisbon Group, see the video below of him speaking at a public meeting in Clonmel in 2008.
