County Tipperary Community Games
Congratulations to Michael England & to St. Flannans who received awards at the 2010 HSE Community Games National Area Awards on Saturday 20th November at the Carlton Shearwater Plaza Hotel in Ballinasloe. Michael won the “Adult Volunteer Award” for Tipperary while St. Flannans won the “Area Award”. The Area, Adult & Youth Volunteer Awards are one of the highlights for volunteers on the HSE Community Games calendar where volunteers from all over the country are rewarded for their hard work throughout the year. The awards are a celebration of the excellent work and dedication of volunteers from those areas within HSE Community Games that have achieved high levels of participation by children in a wide range of sports and cultural activities throughout the year. Well done to Michael & St. Flannans who have won this award for Tipperary in both 2009 & 2010. These awards are testament to the hard work & dedication that they have put into local Community Games over the years.
A big Happy Birthday to our Tipperary Community Games President, Breeda Christie who celebrated her 80th birthday recently. A small celebration was held at our County Meeting at the end of November where tea & cake (a gorgeous creation by Joan Hogan, our Assistant Secretary) was served up with a presentation of flowers to Breeda. We wish Breeda many more years of health & happiness & thank her for all her dedicated service to Community Games over the past 40 years. We also congratulate Breeda on her recent Volunteer in Sport Award which was bestowed on her at the Canon Hayes National Sports Awards 2010 for all her brilliant work with Tipperary Town A.C. over the years. A much deserved award for a very special lady.
The HSE Community Games Art Calendar 2011 was launched at the recent Area Awards Event. All the art work on the calendar is from the children who took part in the Art competition at the HSE Community Games National Finals this year. Winter Games – Closing date for Tipperary team applications for Winter Games will be Wednesday 19th January 2011. The cost will be €6.00 per team, the same as last year. Absolutely no applications will be accepted after this date. Application forms will be posted to all Area Secretaries shortly. Winter team draws will take place shortly after that & will be made available in the papers & on the internet.
Another reminder that Area Registration Forms for 2011 are now available for completion. If any Area Secretary has not received one by post they can be downloaded from the Community Games website at www.communitygames.ie under the “Resource Centre” box on the top right hand side of the home page. Can all Area Secretaries please ensure that all parts of the Registration forms are fully completed together with the Affiliation fee of €120.00 (no change from last year). Completed forms can be posted to Kathleen England (Address: Mount Butler, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary).
