Irish rugby star Gordon D’Arcy launches the GOAL Mile with Suzanne Murray of GOAL

Tipperary people of all ages and fitness levels are gearing up for the return of the GOAL Mile this Christmas, as three venues in the county play host to the popular annual fundraiser over the festive period.

The GOAL Mile is held in villages, towns and cities all over Ireland every Christmas and is one of the country’s biggest and longest-running annual fundraising events. The concept is simple: people run or walk a Mile and contribute whatever they can afford to GOAL on the day.

Thanks to GOAL Mile organisers and participants, millions have been raised to support GOAL’s work in the developing world since the first Mile was staged in 1982.

Tipperary Miles will be held on Christmas Day at Ormonde Castle, Carrick-on-Suir, from 11 a.m., and at the Town Hall, Fethard from 12 p.m., while there will also be a Mile held outside Sarsfield Sports Centre, Thurles, with date and time to be announced soon. Please check the GOAL website for updates.

For more information, or to pick up a sponsorship card, please contact your local organiser, ring GOAL on 01-2809779, or visit their new website at www.goal.ie.
