One to attend: Wexford charity auction will generate national interest

Today, Childlife 2010, an auction in aid of Childline and the Enniscorthy Athenaeum Restoration Fund was launched in Wexford by Childline volunteer Anne McClean. The Childlife Auction includes over 100 unmissable items from the world of sports, music, leisure, art, fashion and equestrian that will definitely hold national interest.

The Childlife 2010 auction will be attended by many local celebrities such as artist Mark O’Neill and Mr Billy Roche who will start proceedings with a reading from one of his works. The auction includes items such as paintings from Mark O’Neill, Thelma Mansfield and Elizabeth Cope, signed original photo of Mohammad Ali, a signed 2010 Kilkenny Jersey, a walk in part on Fair City, educational courses, numerous stallion nominations, much sought after signed sports and celebrity memorabilia and many, many more. All items have been donated free of charge from people all over the world.

Auction organiser and Childline volunteer Anne McClean said; “I am overwhelmed with the support I have received so far for the Childlife 2010 auction. I hope that we attract many prospective buyers who like a good deal and also like to support our worthy charities”.

Director of Fundraising at the ISPCC Childline, Lloyd Byrne, added that; “events such as Childlife are vital to supporting the work of Childline. Childline receives no government funding which means we need to raise €4 million each year to support the hundreds of thousands of children that contact us each year. I appeal to the people of Wexford and beyond to support this great event I would also like to extend my great thanks to Anne McClean for her tireless work in putting this together”.

Viewing of auction items will begin at 12pm on Sunday the 21st or by prior appointment. The Childlife 2010 auction will take place in The Riverside Hotel, Enniscorthy, Wexford on Sunday the 21st November at 4pm sharp. Bids will be accepted before this time by email to, Phone bidding will also be made available and those wishing to avail of this facility should book no later than 18th November.
