Roscrea HSE Community Games Athletics

Killavilla was the setting for our Area athletics last Sunday and as usual the track was in fantastic condition.  Our thanks to Michael Hogan for all his help and hard work in marking the lanes.  Katie Shanahan showed her experience to win the U10 Hurdles and 100m, Kenneth Lee won the U-8 60mwith Nathan Carroll in 2^nd while in the 80m they traded places with Nathan winning and Kenneth in 2^nd place, Dayle Collins finished 3^rd in both races.  Jamie Ryan ran very impressively in the U-10 200m in which he finished very strongly to win. Enda Parlon did the double in the Hurdles and 100m with Dylan Carroll winning both 100m and 600m.  There were plenty of fun events for all the younger and much older athletes.  The smaller boys & girls ran egg & spoon races and tunnel races.  The much older athletes running in the Mammy’s and Daddy’s Egg & Spoon races were extremely competitive with Joan Shanahan narrowly winning the Mammy’s race and Martin Parlon destroying the Daddy’s field to win comprehensively.  Our thanks to all the parents for participating on the day.  A big debt of gratitude is also owed to Mick, Kitty & Brian England, Sandra Cooke, Sarah & Corina Kennedy, Caroline Collins, Coach Rebecca Maher and our esteemed treasurer Anne-Marie O’Meara. Thanks to our Starters, Finish Judges and our Long-Puck & Ball-Throw personnel, Francis O’Rourke and Shane Fletcher.
