Cloughjordan Business Network hosts evening on plans for North Tipperary Green Enterprise Park

Cloughjordan Business Network (CBN) is hosting a networking evening to facilitate sharing some positive news amongst our local business community and fellow eco entrepreneurs about developments plans for the North Tipperary Green Enterprise Park Ltd (NTGEP).

The networking event will take place on Thursday, July 23rd at 8pm in Grace’s Pub, Main Street Cloughjordan. The evening is an informal type of gathering, open to all entrepreneurs of any stripe and admission is free.

The NTGEP is a limited company formed this year to establish a green enterprise park in Cloughjordan to provide workspace infrastructure, programmes and services to facilitate the growth of eco entrepreneurship in North Tipperary.

Several of the directors of NTGEP will be on hand to share their vision for the eco enterprise centre with those present on the night and they offer this opportunity to the CBN to air their practical views and local knowledge to ensure this innovative project will integrate into, and strengthen the local economy.

The establishment by the Tanaiste in May 2009 of a High Level Action group on Green Enterprise puts the importance of this local project in context. In the DETE press release, the Tánaiste pointed out that latest estimates put the size of the global environmental goods and services market as exceeding €950 billion by 2010. The value of this sector for Ireland is growing and estimated to be more than €2.8 billion in 2008.

The creation of the eco enterprise park will address the problem of the lack of an enterprise base and affordable workspace in North Tipperary. The proposed 750sqm centre will feature shared use offices; admin supports; ‘Living Lab’ creative workshops; ‘Fab Lab’ eco-innovation engineering spaces; library style consultation resources; meeting rooms and a food production processing unit.

By providing smart solutions to environmental issues, the companies locating in the eco enterprise hub will illustrate the wealth of new employment  possibilities that can be created in a community that embraces the potential of a post carbon world.

The company plans to lease land within the Cloughjordan eco village with a build completion date by December 2010. The capital costs of the eco enterprise park will be funded by Enterprise Ireland and North Tipperary County Enterprise Board and others.

The Cloughjordan Business Network has been formed by Cloughjordan Community Development Committee and Sustainable Projects Ireland Limited to provide a forum for local businesses to meet informally to discuss matters of mutual interest and benefit and to explore ways of developing the local economy of Cloughjordan.

So if you have a business or farming interest in all things green and are based in and around Cloughjordan, please mark your diary, bring your business cards and join the Network. No RSVP required.
