TIPPERARY CLUBS DRAW 2009
Congratulations to Deirdre Synnott of Tinderry Knock, Roscrea (sold by Knock GAA) on winning the star prize of an Audi A6 or €50,000 in the first draw of the new Tipperary Clubs Draw 2009, which was held in O’Gorman’s Bohernarusha, Holycross on Friday night last. Other lucky winners of cars were Mick and Eileen Coffey of Bracken, The Spa, Clonmel (sold by Clonmel Óg GAA), Tom O’Dowd, Holycross Village (sold by Holycross Ballycahill GAA) and Tony Gleeson, Moyneard, Moyne.
Well done to all the club promoters on their magnificent selling efforts again this year. The draw of course could not take place without a lot of advance promotional activities and a huge amount of administrative work to make sure all members are registered in time for the draws. Well done to all concerned and in particular to Ger Bradley, Draw Co-Ordinator; Siobhan Mackey, Geraldine Bourke and Marian Graham in the GAA Office Thurles; Peter Byrne, Chairman of the Draw Committee and his Committee members; and Tim Floyd, County Secretary.
GAA E-MAIL UPDATE
All clubs in Tipperary have now logged on at least once to their new GAA e-mail account, the first county in Ireland to do so. However, there are some clubs still using the old GAA e-mail accounts. Please note that from June 30th onwards, all spam filtering for the old GAA e-mail address will cease. From July 31st onwards, users will no longer be able to send e-mails from the old e-mail system which will cease to exist altogether on December 31st. As a result of this phasing out of the old GAA e-mail system, all Tipperary clubs and users are encouraged to use the new GAA e-mail system as their only way of accessing GAA e-mails going forward. Those who send e-mails on a regular basis to Tipperary GAA clubs are asked to update their mailing lists accordingly to reflect this change. Anyone wishing to e-mail a Tipperary club can see the updated list of club e-mail addresses on the Contact section of the Tipperary GAA web site at http://tipperary.gaa.ie.
COUNTY BOARD MEETING
The next meeting of the County Board will be held at 8pm on Tuesday June 30th in the Sarsfields Centre, Thurles.
REFEREE – NOEL COSGRAVE
Good luck to Noel Cosgrave (Marlfield) who will referee the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi Final between Cork and Clare at 2pm in Páirc na nGael, Limerick on Sunday next in the curtain raiser to the Tipp v Clare senior game.
Tipperary Supporters Club Membership
Now that Tipperary’s campaign in the Munster SH Championship is in full swing we are asking you to show your support by encouraging your family and friends, at work or in your club, to join up as 2009 members. If you could sell even a small number of memberships it would be greatly appreciated, as significant team preparation expenses are incurred at this time of the year for travel, meals, specialist training and medical treatment. We thank the many supporters who have taken out their Tipperary Supporters Club membership early this year and numbers are well up with last year’s figures. New members are still in time to be entered in the draws for Championship match stand tickets and the All-Ireland Hurling Final Weekend prize (match stand tickets and accommodation in www.louisfitzgeraldhotel.com included). In addition every member receives a membership card, car/window sticker and an attractive, specially-designed lapel badge. To be in with a chance to win a place on the Masterclass, all you have to do is to listen in to the GAA Preview Programme with Paddy Finucane this Saturday from 5pm-6pm or you can send your name, address, age, and club on a post card to: The Tipp FM GAA Masterclass 2009, The GAA Preview Show, Premier Broadcast Centre, Gurtnafleur Business Park, Clonmel. TIPPERARY GAA ARCHIVES
As part of the 125th Anniversary celebrations, a new Tipperary GAA archive web site is being prepared for launch this summer which will include a list of all players who have played for Tipperary from the Minor grade upwards. All clubs in the county were sent an e-mail last week with a list of the inter-county players from their club as compiled by PJ Maxwell to review and revert with any updates or omitted players. Clubs are asked to review this information and revert to Ed Donnelly (ed.donnelly@gaa.ie) by Sunday June 21st. Thereafter, the information will be loaded in to an online database where anyone will be able to search for inter-county players by a number of different criteria including name, club, year, grade etc. In addition to this database, the new web site will include the County and Divisional Championship roll of honour from the Minor to Senior grade, including County Final winning captains. More details will be forthcoming closer to the launch of this eagerly awaited online resource.
