Cloughjordan Festival 2009
Final Programme Announced for the Cloughjordan Festival
This year’s Cloughjordan Festival takes place from Monday 29 June to Saturday 4 July.
Now in its third year, the festival programme continues to develop to include something for almost everyone. For example, this year’s festival features more workshops to help you develop your skills and learn something new! Hurling, weaving, circus skills, music, dance: there’s something for almost everyone.
Classic Cloughjordan will once again be a festival highlight. On Friday, 3 July at 8pm, The Cloughjordan Community Choir welcomes Prey Trio and the Borrisokane Gospel Choir to St Kieran’s Church for an evening of truly wonderful music. And on Saturday, 4 July, the Cork Circus takes to the streets and halls for acrobatic workshops and performance. Their circus skills workshop is open to all ages.
The festival ends with the prize giving for the Children’s Art Competion at the Community Disco. This year, local children are modelling a scene from a legend or fairy tale. Their work will be displayed on Friday 3 July and Saturday 4 July in the Methodist Hall, Main Street.
Details of times, events and costs are below. For more information, pick up a Cloughjordan Festival programme. Tickets for ticketed events are available from Austin’s Centra and Sheelagh na Gig bookshop, Cloughjordan. For credit card bookings, ring Sheelagh na Gig bookshop on 0505 42123.
North Tipperary County Council has once again generously supported the festival. A special thank you goes to Austin’s Centra for their ongoing support and to the Cloughjordan patchwork group. They have produced three handmade quilts as raffle prizes to raise funds for the festivals. The quilts are on display in the window of Austin’s Centra, and lines are available for €2 in most shops in Cloughjordan.
