RYAN BROTHERS EXCEL AT SCHOOLS COMBINED EVENTS
The All Ireland Schools Combined Events Championships produced a day of intense & exciting competition in the AIT Arena, Athlone on Saturday 15th November. 3 Club athletes, Daniel, David & Declan Ryan, all students from CBS Thurles were Tipperary’s only representatives & they did both their School & County proud on the day. There was a brilliant gold medal win for Daniel Ryan in the Inter Boys competition a year out of his age which saw him ending the day with a massive score of 3,500 points & 3 new pbs in the 60mH, 200m & 800m. His brother David won silver in the Junior Boys competition keeping the best until last when he put in a scorching 800m run of 2.13.74 to bring him from 7th to 2nd place overall. He achieved 2 new pbs on the day in the 200m & 800m. Both will now represent Ireland & their school at the SIAB Schools International in Glasgow on Saturday 13th December. Declan Ryan, CBS Thurles was the 3rd Club athlete to take part on the day & he put in an excellent performance to finish 12th overall in the hotly contested Junior Boys competition posting 4 new pbs in the 60mH, Shot Putt, 200m & 800m. Brothers, Daniel & David Ryan, CBS Thurles/Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. who both won medals at the All Ireland Schools Combined Events Championships in AIT Arena Athlone on Saturday 15th November. Daniel won gold in the Intermediate Boys category & David won silver in the Junior Boys competition Both will now represent Ireland & their school CBS Thurles at the SIAB Schools Combined Events International in the Emirates Arena, Glasgow on Saturday 13th December.
3 COUNTY “B” TITLES FOR CLUB
15 Club athletes took part in the County Juvenile “B” Cross Country Championships in Moyne on Sunday 16th November. It was a very successful day with the Club winning 8 individual medals in total including 3 gold medals & 1 bronze & 2 sets of gold team medals in the Girls U/9 & U/11 competitions. In the Girls U/9 race, Catilin Shelly was the outright winner with Rebecca Danagher in 8th, Aoife Shelly in 9th, Kaithlyn Flanagan in 14th & Holly Keily in 21st place. These great results meant a gold team medal for the girls & individual medals for Caitlin, Rebecca & Aoife. In the Boys U/11 competition Oisin Martin & Ronan O’Dwyer came home in 6th & 10th place earning themselves individual medals. Then in the Girls U/11, there was gold for Laura Purcell with Shauna Flanagan in 14th, Lucy O’Keefe in 16th & Aeidin Johnston in 18th place with a gold team medal for the girls. Cathal Corcoran was first home for the Club in 9th place in the Boys U/13 race with Rian Martin in 14th place. There was another gold medal for the Club won by Ben O’Dwyer in the Boys U/15 race with Bill O’Keefe taking bronze. Congratulations & well done to all our athletes, super result indeed. Well done also to Paul Bowe, the Club’s only representative at the Country Novice “B” 6km Men’s race at the same venue. Paul finished in 14th place in a time of 27.15.
CLUB MEETING
A Club meeting will take place upstairs in Littleton Sports Complex on Monday 24th November at 8.30pm. Can all Club members please attend as this is an important meeting to discuss Club Awards & training schedules for 2015.

Cross Country training takes place every Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm in the Middlepiece, Two Mile Borris. New athletes & help always welcome.

CHILD WELFARE COURSE
DON’T FORGET – Munster Athletics have organised a Child Welfare & Garda Vetting Talk for Friday 21st November 2014 @ 7.30pm in the Garda College, Templemore, Co. Tipperary. The evening is intended to be an informative & practical one, dealing with Child Welfare & Garda Vetting topics which are essential & mandatory for every County Board & Club to be familiar with in our current society. The speaker will be the very experienced Athletics Ireland Child Welfare Tutor, Kieron Stout & the talk will last approximately an hour & a half. As Child Welfare becomes an increasingly important element in our sport, it would be ideal if all Tipperary Clubs could have their Child Welfare Officers present (or at least one representative) so that all Clubs are up to date with all relevant information.

This event takes place on Saturday 31st January 2015 @ 8pm in the Blarney Golf Resort Hotel, Blarney, Co. Cork. Details of the 2014 Munster Star Award Winners will be announced next month & published on the Munster Athletics website at www.munsterathletics.com.

The Club has a number of athletes on the squad this year namely:- Daniel, David & Jack Ryan, Ciara & Sean Mockler & Liam McDonagh.
- Thurs 27th November – Sports Psychology Workshop in Clonmel from 7pm to 9pm. This has been changed from the original date of 13th November.

Nenagh Olympic A.C. will be holding two Open Indoor Competitions in December & January . The first one will take place on Saturday 6th December for athletes U/9 to U/12 & the second competition on Sunday 11th January 2015 for athletes U/13 to Junior. 2015 ages will apply to both competitions.
