Club athletes enjoyed resounding success at the highly competitive Munster Schools Track & Field Championships in Cork I.T. on Saturday 16th May taking home a total of 11 medals (7 gold & 4 silver). There were double gold medals for CBS Thurles students, Sean Mockler in the Junior Discus (42.83m) & Hammer (49.85m) & Daniel Ryan in the Inter 100mH (13.54) & Long Jump (6.77m)), gold for Liam McDonagh in the Junior Walk (6.31.42), gold for Jack Ryan in the Minor Shot (12.83m) & silver in Minor Long Jump (4.99m), gold for David Ryan in the Junior Long Jump (6.31m) & silver in the Junior 200m (23.41) with double silver for Ciara Mockler (Presentation Thurles) in the Senior Shot Putt (9.81m) & Discus (31.14m). Daniel Ryan also set a new Munster Schools record in the Inter Boys Long Jump with his leap of 6.77m. Thurles CBS did particularly well across the team competitions winning the Munster Junior Boys Cup well ahead of any other school (17 points to 2nd place 9 points), also finishing 2nd in the Minor Boys competition & 4th in the Inter Boys category. All 6 athletes will now represent their schools at the prestigious GloHealth Irish Schools Track & Field Championships in Tullamore on Saturday 30th May & we wish them the very best of luck. Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. athletes who won 7 gold & 4 silver medals between them at the Munster Schools Track & Field Championships in Cork I.T. recently. Congrats to Paul Bowe who ran a Personal Best of 40:40 at the Annerville 10k in Clonmel on Sunday 10th May.  Paul has been very busy of late running several races around the county which included the Clonmel Inter-Firm Road Series &The Cahir 4 Miler. Keep up the good work Paul.


The Club’s FIT4Life Group continues every Saturday at the Moycarkey Community Sports Centre at 9am.  Why not come along and join us? The group caters for walkers, joggers & runners of all abilities & all adults are welcome. Keep an eye on our facebook page for weekly updates.


Training for the Track & Field Season takes place every Tuesday & Thursday evenings in the Moycarkey Community & Sports Centre in Littleton. Cost is 2 euro per athlete. Training sessions are split into two groups – 6.30pm to 7.30pm time slot is for athletes born 2007 and younger & 7.30pm to 8.30pm is for athletes born 2006 & older. New athletes & help always welcome. Training at the track on Thursday evenings in Templemore is now over for this season.


  • Clothing Collection – our next clothing collection will take place on 20th June so if everyone could get collecting now, we will have a great fundraiser in June. All proceeds go towards our athletes & the running of the Club.


  • Wed 20th May – Long Jump & Triple Jump Workshop with Jacqui Freyne in the Dr. Pat O’Callaghan Complex, Clonmel  from 7pm to 9pm. Older athletes (Secondary School age) will be catered for from 8pm to 9pm with younger athletes from 7pm to 8pm.


  • Sat 23rd May – Munster U/9 to U/19 Inter Club Relays in Lee’s Road, Ennis, Co. Clare.
  • Sat 23rd May – GloHealth National Combined Events Championships – Master, Senior, Junior & Youth.
  • Sun 24th May – GloHealth National T&F League Round 1 & Day 2 of National Combined Events Championships in Templemore.
  • Sun 24th May – County Juvenile “B” T&F Championships in Clonmel @ 1pm.
  • Sat 30th May – GloHealth Irish Schools T&F Championships in Tullamore @ 9am
