Aglish Vintage Run 02/09/2012

On Sunday 2nd September 2012 the quiet village of Aglish was woken up to the smell of breakfast cooking in the Old School & the sound of vintage tractors coming into Aglish from all roads. For the 1st event of its kind co run and organised by Aglish Old School project Committee and Borrisokane & District Vintage Club, we have an unbelievable turnout of 59 tractors, 2 cars & a lorry. We held a Vintage Run to help raise funds & awareness for St. Anne’s in Roscrea.

As a committee we were overwhelmed by the phenomenal generosity that we witnessed when we approached all the local business people for sponsorship. We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everybody listed below,

We were blessed with the great day that we had and we need to thank everyone that we meet along the way who supported us & allowed us to follow our planned route of Aglish – Lorrha – Rathcabbin – Carrig – Ballingarry – Borrisokane – Ballinderry – Terryglass and back to Aglish.

We got a great reception everywhere we stopped & a very grateful to all the publican’s who provided such hospitality to us, Kelly’s Bar in Rathcabbin, Noonan’s Ballingarry & Paddy’s Bar in Terryglass.

When we got back to Aglish we had a big Bar-B-Q with music provide by Pat Conlon, Tadgh Slevin , Patsy Reddan & PJ Boyle. After the food & music we had a big raffle & auction which helped us raise some much needed funds for St. Annes in Roscrea. If anyone still has to pay for items bought in the auction please contact Olivia as soon as possible.

Plans are already underway for a re-run next year which we hope will be an even bigger & better event.

Date for your diary, if you enjoyed the Vintage Run or missed the great display , don’t forget on the  16th September, Borrisokane & District Vintage Club will be holding there vintage and threshing display a show not to be missed a great days entertainment.
