Brewery Lane Theatre’s upcoming performances, Carrick on Suir

Booking Opens Monday Nov 7th 2011 for Brewery Lane Theatre’s upcoming double bill of one-act Plays by Woody Allen and George Bernard Shaw.  The performance will be staged for 8 nights from Saturday 12th November to Saturday 19th November 2011.

Woody Allen’s Play “Riverside Drive” is a well crafted hilarious story about Fred, a schizophrenic vagrant, who encounters Jim, a successful screenwriter, on Upper West Side Manhattan’s waterfront and attempts to make a deal with him. Enter Barbara, Jim’s mistress, with whom Jim is planning to break up. Barbara, however, has other plans as does the ever imaginative Fred who takes ‘a leap into the unthinkable’ to salvage Jim’s affairs….

GB Shaw described his play as ‘ A Sermon in crude Melodrama’. The Shewing-up of Blanco Posnet is a religious tract in Dramatic form. In 1909, GB Shaw jousted with government censorship, an agency acting under the auspices of the Lord Chamberlain. His play had been refused a license to perform because it dealt openly with prostitution.

Both plays have an exciting cast line-up of well known names & faces to Brewery Lane’s Stage.  Booking is at the Heritage Centre, Main St. Carrick-on-Suir. Telephone 051 640200. Tickets €15.  Doors open at 8pm and play commences at 8.15pm sharp. This is sure to be a great evening’s entertainment for all theatregoers, drama of rare quality not to be missed!
