Ireland’s First Gypsy Jazz Festival Comes to Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary

This October bank holiday weekend (28th-30th) sees the launch of Ireland’s first, long-awaited, festival of Gypsy Jazz.
Over 3 days, you can attend 4 concerts in the intimate and beautiful atmosphere of St Keiran’s Church, Cloughjordan, including Irish masters Andreas Varady (who started out in Limerick), the Hot Club of Dublin and Locoswing plus world-renowned players Robin Nolan, Lollo Meier and Tcha Limberger.  These artists will also be offering a full
day of music masterclasses at the aptly-named Django’s Hostel, with workshops in all aspects of gypsy guitar technique both traditional and modern.
The festival will also feature some fine Irish micro-brews as part of Bord Bia’s Irish Cheese and Craft Beer Weekend, including Metalman, BrewEyed, Trouble Brewing and Eight Degrees. There will be cheese and beer cookery demonstrations, free tasting sessions and home brewing workshops from Moneygall Brewing, who’ll be handing out their special edition festival porter, “Django’s Stingo”.
For the full programme and details, see the festival website at www.cloughtoberfest.com Maximum seating for the concerts is 150, so do pre-book if you can.  Tickets and accommodation can be booked online via the website, or from the festival office at 087 612 8577.
