Presidential Candidates to Debate at Nenagh Arts Centre

Nenagh Arts Centre has secured the attendance of the four presidential candidates for a public debate at the Town Hall on Monday 26th September.

Manager at the Arts Centre, Brendan Maher said this week: “We had a debate in advance of the General Election in the Spring which was a success, so earlier in the summer we began to contact the prospective candidates for the presidential election. The four current candidates have confirmed their interest in attending and given their busy schedules, getting them all together in one place is fantastic. We’re thankful that they can all fit in time to join us.

The debate will offer the public in Nenagh the opportunity to speak to the candidates and ask them their views regarding the role of president, what they see the campaign issues are and get their opinions on how they would deal with the presidency if they were to be elected. This presidential election is perhaps one of the most important in the history of the State as the chosen candidate will be in place as the country steers itself through difficult adjustments in the public, economic and social spheres.”

Garry Cotter, Editor at the Nenagh Guardian will chair the event which begins at 8 p.m. on Monday 26th September. Tickets for the debate are €5 and all proceeds go to the Arts Centre Arts programme. Tickets can be booked from 067 34900 or online at or by calling in to the Arts Centre in Banba Square.
