Irish Dancing Documentary ‘Jig’ features at Nenagh Arts Centre
‘Jig’, the acclaimed Irish dancing documentary screens at Nenagh Arts Centre on Thursday 22nd September at 8 p.m.
Within a few years following shows such as ‘Riverdance’ and ‘The Lord of The Dance’, there was an explosion of interest in Irish dancing and ‘Jig’ is the remarkable story of the fortieth Irish Dancing World Championships, held in March 2010 in Glasgow.
Three thousand dancers, their families and teachers from around the globe descend upon Glasgow for one drama filled week.
Clad in wigs, make-up, fake tan, diamantes and dresses costing thousands of pounds they compete for the coveted world titles.
A year of incredibly hard work makes for just a few tense minutes on stage as the participants attempt to overcome personal odds to achieve their goals. Award-winning filmmaker Sue Bourne discovers a world of dedication, hard work, obsession and passion.
Success and failure is precariously balanced, and astonishing talents are pushed to their limits in the quest for perfection.
