“Harmony” Win 2nd Heat of Buddy’s Got Talent
Last Friday 4th March saw another fantastic night of talent in Buddy’s Bar as the 2nd round took place. The appreciative audience enjoyed four sparkling acts, maintaining the high standard set the first week. First on stage was Robbie Glennon from Nenagh. Robbie gave a fine performance of The Gambler and Michael Buble’s “Home” and obviously he is no stranger to the stage. Next up were 3 young girls from Nenagh and surrounds, Billie Kelly, Caoimhe Kelly and Brid Kenny known as “Harmony”. A very apt name for this group as they sang both songs a-capella in 2 and 3 part harmonies. Judges Laura Brown and Jackie Conboy were very impressed by the vocal quality and the tight harmonies. It was a very slick performance indeed from these young girls, aged just 13 and 14.
Next we had a 4 pc band from Birr, called The 50 Watts. Again another very assured performance from the band which certainly went down very well with the audience, though the judges thought they might focus just a little more on the vocals. Finally to complete the night was Damian Nolan from Rearcross. Damian accompanied himself on guitar and gave a very high-energy and confident performance. Jackie Conboy (judge) liked Damian and told him he almost had the full package!
After a tight vote, the winner was Harmony, with Damian Nolan getting the 2nd spot from the judges. They qualify for the semi-finals and qualifying for the wild card night were The 50 Watts and Robbie Glennon. To round off an excellent night’s entertainment Harmony once again performed a splendid rendition of “Three Little Birds”.
