Super Start to Buddy’s Got Talent
The first heat of Buddy’s Got Talent took place on Friday night last 25th February in Buddy’s Bar, Capparoe, and what a night it proved to be. Five fantastic acts competed for a place in the semi-finals and the judges found themselves in an almost impossible position, such was the standard. If this is a taste of things to come over the next few weeks, then the audiences are in for a treat.
First up on Friday last was Michael Lambe from Lorrha. Michael accompanied himself on the piano with great skill and style in his 2 songs, Your Song (Elton John) and This Year’s Love (David Gray). The judges were very impressed indeed.
Following this we had 9 yr old Fionn Ryan Mulqueen, who gave a rousing rendition of The Premier Rap, suitably attired i
n his Tipperary jersey! This got a great reaction from both audience and judges. Next was Cian Morris, also from Nenagh. Cian gave his usual high standard, slick performance, involving singing and rapping, and he certainly made a big impression with judges Noel Ryan, and Veronica Crowley. His own original song was particularly impressive.
Our only female singer of the night, Bridget Maher from Roscrea, entertained us next with a high-energy and subtle rendition of Big Bad Handsome Man (Imelda May), and then brought us to a very mel
ancholy place with a beautiful version of Olivia Newton-John’s hit, I Honestly Love You. Again judges were most impressed by the very smooth delivery from Bridget.
Last on the night was local singer Mikey Finn. Mikey have a heartfelt and intense performance of 2 original songs, and once again both audience and judges were full of praise. It was a great conclusion to night of extremely high standard performances all round.
Of course you the audience have a say in the outcome, and after counting the votes from the very large attendance, the audience winner by 1 point, was Fionn Ryan Mulqueen. The judges also put Cian Morris and Mikey Finn through, and those 3 acts qualify for the semi-finals. Going through to the wild card night are Michael Lambe and Bridget Maher.
