O’Muircheartaigh, just the ticket for Tipp kidney fundraiser.

Micheál O’ Signs for Danielle. On his last day at the microphone Micheal O’Muircheartaigh took time out to sign jerseys and his book for Danielle Walsh, who is planning to auction the jerseys at a fundraiser for Irish Kidney Research in the Monks on December 15th.mac-cup

In return Danielle presented the retiring commentator with a replica of the McCarthy Cup, kindly sponsored by Michael’s Jewellers, Friar Street, Thurles. The Mether Cup was a drinking-vessel among the common people, especially at meals and drinking time in ancient Ireland (so called from the drink mead), with four handles: it circulated from hand to hand, each passing it to his neighbour after taking a drink. Visitors drank from the four corners of this Friendship Cup. Always the perfect gent, Micheal O’Muircheartaigh was very appreciate of this, ‘appropriate’, gift and posed for photographs with Danielle and her transplant surgeon, former Dub and Allstar, David Hickey, prior to departing with his son, Aonghus, to his lofty perch high up in the Hogan Stand to broadcast his final match for Radio Eireann on Saturday Oct 30th. Micheál has promised to visit Durlas Eile in the near future. Danielle has got great support from the Tipperary GAA Co. Board, Mid Board, Tipp FMs Paddy Fnnucane. Hayes, Anner and Croke Park Hotels, CrokePark and Semple Stadium  All have donated prizes for the raffle. Fantastic prizes for any sporting family with connections to the Tipperary GAA Co. Board are on offer in this raffle, with first prize involving access to  the new All Ireland Champions as initial  plans are laid down for the two in a row! In Semple Stadium.
